Education & Research

WIRES understands the importance of research and education to ensure we are taking action now to save the Koalas for the future!  WIRES have a great partnership with The Koala Health Hub, at the University of Sydney's School of Veterinary Science, and their vision is to provide a collaborative focus of koala health expertise, research and training across the issues affecting koalas. Max and friends understand that all this hard work means that the WIRES team will have the knowledge and support to better manage the recovery of koalas, and be better prepared for future events and ensure the conservation of our local legend, the Koala!

Koala Water Drinking Project

Work is under way and hundreds of water drinkers are being produced! Max and friends are proud to be supporting their Aussie friends, so that these can be installed nationally in the areas most impacted by the fires and drought

During the recent drought and fires it was evident that more animals needed additional access to water, as the extreme weather reduces the reduces the moisture content of leaves. This means  the Koala’s leave the safety of the tree to look for water .

The aim is to have these  water stations installed before the coming summer season and  help support wild koalas!
